I started the Center for Emerging Adulthood because in my broad experience working with young adults in transition, I became aware of many unmet needs. Times change quickly — the needs of young adults today are frequently minimized and marginalized.
In my work with young adults and other people in transition, I began to see the need for a Center that would focus seriously on this life stage and its unique developmental challenges. Like the hinge of a door, so much later development pivots on the way this early adult transition is navigated.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the treatment of adolescents, young adults, and their families. Having worked with all ages, from children to seniors, in a variety of settings (inpatient and outpatient hospital units, a personality disorders program, a juvenile detention center), it wasn’t until my work at college counseling centers that led me to realize helping those in young adulthood is crucial to later development and life satisfaction.
