Our expertise

Our therapists are well attuned to the psychological challenges attendant to the complex and evolving transitions in our culture from high school to college, possibly via “gap years,” and the less widely discussed transition from college to young adult life.  Our unique approach integrates rigorous, in-depth, time-tested, even increasingly compelling features of psychoanalysis with the evidence-based knowledge yielded by cutting edge research.

Our approach is broadly psychodynamic, integrating Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral perspectives and techniques uniquely tailored for each individual.

Breadth of experience

The Center for Emerging Adulthood clinicians have in-depth experience working with emerging adults, with a particular sensitivity to the dilemmas of adolescents and young adults as they struggle to find “true self” expression integrated with the many demands for compromise and conformity they face, both externally and internally.  Above all, we are sensitive and appreciative of the courage it takes to explore oneself in therapy; we strive to create a welcoming atmosphere that facilitates this difficult but crucial work.
